Blogging News Stories as They Happen

Blogging news stories as they unfold is one of the most
exciting and controversial applications of technology that
bloggers have discovered. One thing that makes the
blogosphere so active is the fact that it is possible to
update a blog instantaneously, so the news on blogs tends
to be more current than the news in the paper, or on
television. Unlike news delivered by these other media,
news that appears on blogs does not have to travel through
a series of editors and administrators before it reaches
the public eye. This has some advantages, and some distinct
disadvantages.
One of the most notable cases of news hitting a blog before
appearing in other media took place in July 2005 when
terrorism struck London. As passengers were evacuated from
a subway car near an explosion, one man took several
photographs of the scene with his cellular phone, and
within an hour these images were posted online.
First-person accounts of the catastrophe began appearing on
blogs soon after these photos appeared, and people all over
the world learned about the events in London by reading the
words and seeing the photos posted by bloggers.
The fact that these stories and images were being spread
directly by individuals operating without the added filter
of a reporter helped to make the crisis feel very immediate
to people across the globe. When it comes to blogging, news
often appears in a very personal context. This has the
potential to be the beginning of an exciting new era of
reporting, one that takes "New Journalism" to it's logical
next step by putting the power to shape how the news is
written and read directly into the hands of the public.
Many bloggers and cultural commentators who are champions
of the weblog movement feel that this growing trend of
individuals who getting their news from blogs is a good
thing, because it makes the flow of information more
democratic. By decentralizing the control of news, blogs
allow more voices to enter the field of debate about
important current events. However, many people are
adamantly opposed to the use of blogs as news outlets, and
there are plenty of good arguments on this side of the
debate. Unlike newspapers or television stations, few blogs
have fact- checkers, and there is little attention paid to
journalistic accountability on many blogs. This can lead to
the rapid spread of misinformation, and more than one
falsehood has taken the blogosphere by storm. The questions
about whether blogging news as it happens is ethical or not
are very complicated, but no matter where you stand on the
topic of current events blogs you are almost sure to agree
that this movement has the potential to revolutionize how
modern people get their news.

Basics of Online Business Procedures
The key to any well run business is in it's business
procedures. From McDonalds to General Motors, these
businesses have perfected the procedures that have
made them into massive global companies. It's just
as important for you to do the same for your online
business. We will cover the process for creating the
procedures below.
First off, you are going to need to know how to do the
procedure you want repeated. You may have been doing it
for months or it may be something entirely new to you.
Either way, you must know it and know it well enough that
you can explain it to someone else.
Next, you are going to write down all the steps to the
procedure. I suggest that you use a numbered list and that
you keep the steps in their correct order. Only use command
words: shall, is required to, should, will and must. Avoid
weak words that give options: optionally, can, and may.
Ensure that you can follow the steps that you have written
down.
Third, add a visual presentation of the procedure. If the
procedure takes place on a computer use Camtasia Studio or
CamStudio to record you going through the steps. Make sure
you inform the person who will be listening of what you are
doing at each step for clairity. If the procedure is not
performed on a computer, then add pictures or illistrations
to the written instructions.
Lastly, get feedback from the people who are performing the
procedures and continuously update your procedures so that
they become more concise, clear and quick to perform.
Procedures are not a fire and forget kind of task, they
should be the cornerstone of any great business and need
to be frequently refreshed.

more open to email marketing than other consumers. Surveying
adults about their attitudes towards email, Mintel
Comperemedia found that Hispanics welcome email
communication from companies they know up to 11 times a
month. Non-Hispanic consumers only tolerate such emails up
to 7.4 times a month.
This large and rapidly growing group is spending more and
more time online... and is more receptive to email! This

Not Too Long, Not Too Short - Appropriate Blog Post Length
An important thing to realize about Backlink blogging is
that it is somewhat different than normal blog posting. One
of the things that sets Backlink blogging apart is the
average size of the blog posts.
Normal types of blog posts can be from 150-1500 words or
more in length. On the other hand, those of us who are
blogging for backlinks primarily will usually construct a
much smaller blog posts -- we have found that longer posts
are simply not necessary and can even be harmful!
When you are doing blogging to gain backlinks for a
website, it is important to have a blog posting which is
not too short nor too long. When you make your blog post
longer than it needs to be, you will be spending way too
much time constructing each post.
For example, a blog post of 600 words could be broken up
into 3 posts of 200 words each. By shortening up the length
of your blog posts, you will be able to write many more
posts in the same amount of time.
Because the bottom line is this: the more posts you write,
the more backlinks you will gain!
On the other hand, you should be careful to avoid making
blog posts that are too short. Blog posts which are less
than 100 words, for example, have a tendency to look spammy
and lower the value of the blog post site.
But even more importantly: a blog post that is way too
short deprives search engines of enough content to provide
an adequate 'context' for the links you have placed. Search
engines look for this additional content and you need to
provide it for them -- not just the anchor (linked) text
that is used.
When your blog post is of a good length, you will be giving
those search engines enough information -- context -- that
relates to your link and ultimately, your website. This
will give your backlinks more 'punch' and significance.
All other things being equal, therefore, try to make your

Lost Your Passwords
How often have you forgotten your passwords? Well, thanks
to the option to save passwords in Windows, this isn't so
such of a problem, except for the fact that after using the
password that pops up when you type in your username for
awhile, you might forget it. The password that does pop up
when you type in your username is all dotted out and if you
have forgotten what the password is, there's no hope left.
This can be bothersome if you lose your saved passwords and
have to rely on your memory of a password that you haven't
even typed in six months to a year.
Well, this week's download might help refresh your memory
on some of those passwords that appear automatically, but
you can't remember them to save your life. Password
Unmasker (also called Asterisk Key) removes all of those
asterisks hiding your passwords and allows you to view them
in plain text. So, with this, you can tell exactly what
each of your passwords are. Once this program does its
magic, you can record the passwords somewhere safe (like a
password protected and encrypted file or even on a printout
kept in a safe and secure location), just in case you ever
lose your saved passwords again.

Article marketing is the #1 traffic strategy.
Once you apply the multipliers of search engine data for
content sites, affiliate programs for sales sites and then
after one-time promotions, my top strategy which I have
found to work best to get traffic to new sites as well as
old is submitting articles with a short promotional
resource box at the end of the article.
There are many avenues to get your articles distributed.
You can posting articles at EzineArticles.com or
GoArticles.com, Associated Content and SearchWarp all good
places to submit. You can also use services like iSnare.com
or ArticleMarketer.com and pay to have your articles
distributed. Another way to distribute is to use software
like Article Submitter Pro or Article Post Robot.
There is nothing wrong with any of these techniques. I have
used them all successfully. But there is a much, much more
powerful method of article marketing that most marketers
miss- ezine and newsletter marketing.
First I want you to get understand the potential of article
marketing and then see on how small a slice of the pie the
above methods cover. Go to Google and type your one word
topic followed by the word "article" and then followed by
the word "articles". So if your topic is "fishing", then
search for: fishing article, fishing articles.
Then repeat the above process using "ezine", "ezines",
"newsletter" plus "newsletters". I want you to make a note
of how many search results are returned for each of these -
these are the results your competition is missing.
Thousands of article marketers are all competing for the
attention of just a tiny fraction of the total market for
article distribution, while missing the important ezine and
newsletter channel for distribution.
ArticleROI can be a powerful tool in your arsenal - it
submits to hundreds of built-in ezines and newsletters, and
allow you to add an unlimited amount of your own, custom
publishers.
