Maximize It

When you open your Web browser, does it sometimes open in a
smaller window than you'd like? If that happens, are you
constantly going up to the Maximize button and making the
screen larger? Well, there are a couple options.

In Internet Explorer, open a new window and for now, make
sure it's not maximized. Then go to each corner and use
your mouse to drag the sides out to a size you prefer. ust
drag the window until it fills your screen. (Don't use the
Maximize button for this one). When you've found a size
that suits you, close the window. Now, whenever you open a
new window in IE, it will appear as the full size you've
been waiting for.

Here's another rule you can go by: If you're using several
browser windows at once, whenever you close the very last
one, make sure it's in its largest size. Internet Explorer
works through the last window you close. So, if you closed
a window that was at the right size for you, the next one
you open will be that same size too. Either way you choose
to go, you're guaranteed to always have a full screen
browser.

Emotional Intelligence and Internet Business

If you haven't read Emotional Intelligence by Daniel
Goleman, you're missing out on some amazing information to
give your internet business a shove in the right
directiont. The book illuminates the idea that Emotional
Intelligence is more crutial than IQ in terms of being
successful in life and online. The article you are reading
will examine the concepts from the text and what they mean
to internet business.

The first idea is self awareness. It can appear somewhat
strange that one would consider how self aware one is when
it comes to business however, a piece of self awareness is
comprehending limitations, goals and strengths. Each piece
will play a critical piece in determining how far the firm
can go, which portions can be handled personally as well as
what should be delegated.

The second facet is self regulation. Self regulation simply
involves keeping your emotions in check and behaving
accordingly. How can this play into internet business? I
for one have found that it is rather easy to make a snap
decision and throw in the towel. Even if you are not yet
solely reliant on your internet business for your income,
it is easy to make a quick decision that you will regret
later.

The third portion of emotional intelligene is motivation.
It is essential to stay motivated to find success. The
trick is finding what it is that keeps your motivation
flowing. If you determine that you are not as motivated as
you were before, then it is certainly time to examine some
new facets of the business to get a fresh perspective.

The next portion of emotional intelligence is empathy.
Joining empathy with business can also seem a little weird
at first glance if you are not stopping to think what the
real definition of empathy is. It will not always refer to
feeling sorry or sympathetic towards others. What it does
mean is that you will need to have the capacity to place
yourself in the customers sneakers in order to find
success. Would you purchase the good or service? Does the
good present a resolution to the customer's issue?

The fifth and final concept is social skill. Are you
networking with wealthy internet business owners? If not
then why? The more acquaintences you know that are doing
well the better the chances of your own success. The larger
the network the better the options are when a rough patch
comes about. The same is verifiable in the off line world.
Examine each of these pieces of emotional intelligence and
decide if your firm can use some touch up.

In today~s stressful work environment the idea of becoming
self employed and owning your own business can be very
appealing.  It is not uncommon to hear people talk of the
business that they would like to start up.  If you speak

most people who are currently unhappy in their employment,

would like to create.   And it is easy to see why; owning
your own business comes with wonderful bonuses. The

ability
to choose your profession and the freedom to decide upon
your working hours are two of the main reasons why people
leave the security of paid employment and embark on their
dream of running a small business.

Many people can ignore these facts when making the

decision
about starting a small business.

The first thing that people do not consider when starting
up a small business is the amount of paperwork involved.
There are lots of responsibilities to running a business
and administration is a large part of it.  The issue of

tax
can not be ignored and if the business is not prepared for
the tax bill that will arrive at the end of the financial
year, it can easily go under.

Start Menu Programs

How often do you look at the items under your Start menu?
Is everything there really necessary? With Windows, you can
choose how many "recently used" programs show up in your
Start menu that you visit on a pretty regular basis - this
is how you can control it.

Right click on the Start button and choose Properties. From
there, make sure you're under the General tab and look
toward the middle of the box. It's there that you can
either increase or decrease the number of programs that
will be listed first in your Start menu. Mine is set to
three, but you can set yours to zero or go all the way up
to 30. It's completely up to you. The more you have there,
the faster you can access those programs, but if that's not
your style, choose something different.

Selling a service online isn't really so different to
selling a product. You can still use the same strategies
and tactics as you would if you were selling a product.
 

* Identify your market
 
* Do keyword research for writing content
 
* Write articles/blog posts
 
* Submit articles to directories

* Advertise in ezines
 

The object of the exercise is to get potential customers to
find you.
 

You don't even have to create a website if you don't want to
- you can create a blog instead. But... all the content you
write must drive traffic to your website or blog.
 

You also have to track the visitors to your website or blog
so that you can identify which of the methods you are using
are working and which are not. You can use a free program
such as Google Analytics for tracking.

Aliens Ate My Business!

I don't know how it happened, but it DID happen!
 
What fries me is how hard I've worked to make a success of my
business.  All that time & energy only to have what must be
some kind of alien activity steal it all away!
 
Here's exactly what happened.
 
A while back, I decided to get Real Serious about my Business. 
I promote & sell unique t-shirts, which everybody knows is a
winning product.  I was so excited!
 
Perched myself in front of the computer & built a web site.  Not
the greatest, but t-shirts are big sellers!  I didn't need anything
fancy nor did I need a whole lot of competitive explanation. 
 
It's true my spelling won't win any prizes & my words have a bad
habit of tripping over each other but who cares?  We're talking
t-shirts here & these babies sell themselves!
 
Next, came writing an ad.  Well, shoot, how hard could that be? 
I wasn't crazy about the first one I came up with so I started over. 
The second ad was a little better, but you know when you can
feel something's missing?  So I tried again.
 
Still wasn't quite right, but I was getting sick of this & fed up with
the whole process.  I briefly thought of having someone write the
ads for me, but then I figured:  why waste the money?  That last
ad was good enough.  So I went with it.
 
Now I had to get my ad out there to the masses!  Joined a couple
of safelists with large memberships.  I considered the Pro level, but
with an audience upwards of 30,000 people, what was the point? 
Advertising once a week was plenty!
 
Of course, I occasionally saw competitors' ads.  Now that I think
about it, I saw them frequently.  Poor things, I thought.  If their stuff
was as good as mine they wouldn't need to do all that work.  People
know quality when they see it & it doesn't take all that marketing!
 
I never bought in to all that business about the need for constant
advertising.  Besides, with what I was offering, it wasn't necessary
or going to make a big difference.  Hey, 15,000+ people on just
one of those lists alone was a lot of exposure & bound to line my
pockets with cash!  How could I miss?  Everybody loves t-shirts.
 
Now I was all set!  Competition Get Out Of My Way!
 
Faithfully, once a week I sent out my ad.  I figured I'd give it a few
weeks to catch on.  After all, it does take a little time.  In the
meantime, I subscribed to a few newsletters. 
 
Some of them had nice advertising packages.  Pretty cheap, too. 
One of them was offering something like 3 Solo Ads for about $20. 
Not bad, but I had options to weigh. 
 
See, that $20 I was carrying around was to buy my lottery tickets
so now I'm in the midst of a dilemna.  I could spend it on more
advertising for my business, yes, but what if my numbers came in! 
You know how much I can buy with two & a half million dollars!
 
The choice was obvious.
 
After a month went by with no response to my ad, I got a little
worried, then really concerned!  This was impossible!  What was
wrong with the buying public?  Where were all those millions of
people spending money on-line? 
 
Between my two safelists, going to more than 35,000 people once
a week, why wasn't I hearing from anybody?  My one-of-a-kind
t-shirts are really, really great so what's the problem?  And folks
wondered why I wouldn't invest my money in more advertising!
 
It was then I decided that some aliens were robbing me blind.
And what made things worse was that I couldn't do a thing
about it!
