A Different Side To Starting Your Own Business
Because of the present economic climate, more and more people will be considering ways to make income in other ways than the traditional j o b. Everyone knows there is a great deal involved in starting your own business, becoming self-employed. Most articles, manuals etc., talk about the business side of things. Here, though, I want to take a look at starting your own business from a different direction - human nature. When you start a business you are doing something different to most people. It is only human nature therefore that some people will look at you because you stick out like a sore thumb. Others will ridicule what you are doing. They will tell you all types of things like: "You're not business material." "You can't make a living working for yourself." "You'll fail because nobody can ever make any money that way." Entrepreneurship is not just about having a lot of ideas or business sense. It is also about having the guts to do something difference. You have to either already have, or build, self-confidence in yourself. You cannot let what other people think rule your life. They do not pay your rent or run your life, you do. Many people are too busy competing with one another and "keeping up with the Jones's". They settle for what they "think" is expected of them, for the sake of being in-step, being "normal", whatever that is, even if by doing so they are never really happy, We should all be more concerned with making the most of ourselves, and not b afraid to take a risk for something we really want. As long as we are not hurting anyone else, we should endeavour to be/do what we want to be/do. If that involves starting a business, or some other sort of venture, so be it. Self-confidence is not something that we are just born with, or without. You can take steps to build your self-confidence, if necessary. I used to be so self-conscious, I hated eating alone in a restaurant, because I thought others were looking at me, judging me, pitying me for being alone. So I used to either avoid the situation altogether, or hide away in a corner, behind a book or magazine. Eventually I realised that no-one was actually bothered whether I was there or not. When I did look round, no-one was paying any attention to me at all, being far too busy with their own meals and lives. And, far from being "unusual" as the only lone diner, there were, in fact others there too, on a regular basis. Now I head for the best table I can find, and take my place without a seconds thought to what others may be, but more than likely are not, thinking. But back to business, let us hope that your venture is a success and life is wonderful for ever after. Unfortunately, however this is the real world and more small businesses fail than succeed, in any economic situation. Some people try to "save face" by pretending they are "just in a slump" and everything will be back to normal soon. They do not want to give people the chance to say "I told you so", and destroy what pride/self confident they have left. This only delays the inevitable, and gives those about them false hope. Far better to face up to the problems, face them head on. There is no shame in trying and failing. Know when to cut your losses, use it as a learning exercise, and move on. The old saying, "we learn from our mistakes" is as true in business as anywhere else, and the lessons learned will stand you in good stead for next time. Yes, there should be a next time! And a next, and next, if necessary. There are not very many successful people who do not have failures in their past, you will not be the first or the last to fail and start all over again, stronger for the experience. As for what other people think of what you are doing, does it matter? Human nature being what it is, those who told you it would never work, will be the first ones to claim you as their buddy when eventually you do "make it"! If you have hiccups along the way, those are the times when you will find out who your friends really are, because friends do not tell you "I told you so", friends are the ones who pitch in and help. We all make mistakes throughout our lives, big ones and small. It is the way we learn, always has been and always will be. The people who learn from them and put the lessons into practice, achieve. The ones who worry about making the mistake before it happens, or get embarrassed etc by them, never get very far. If necessary, go back and get yourself a job again, regroup and prepare to try again. You will not make the same mistakes again. Maybe you will make different ones, maybe you will succeed this time, maybe not. But you will not succeed if you do not try. Keep your family fed and your financial obligations met, but look forward to the day when you WILL succeed with your new business venture. ===================================== Clue # 397 - You will not succeed if you do not ?

We all have junk on our computers, whether we like it or
not. Maybe they're Internet files or files that have been left behind from uninstalled programs, but either way,There is a program that will clear all of them away! It's called CCleaner and I think it's a must have for all computer users. CCleaner is a program that optimizes your computer by
removing various kinds of garbage system files, such as temporary files, old registry entries, invalid shortcuts, etc. It also helps to maintain your privacy by deleting your browser's URL history, cookies and so on. It's a small all-in-one system clean up tool! To get started with using it,
First, download CCleaner from http://www.ccleaner.com/.
Follow the installation wizard and when it has finished, open up CCleaner. You will then see that certain tasks that you commonly do
on a regular basis have already been checked. Such tasks as emptying the Recycle Bin and running the Disk Cleaner. If you select the Applications tab, you'll see some of your installed software. Take a minute and look over the list to see if there's anything you don't approve of. If there is, you can uncheck them. Next, click the Analyze button and the progress bar will
then begin. When it has finished, you'll see how much junk information can be removed on the right pane. When you're ready, to delete all of that junk, just click Run CCleaner. Click Issues and you'll be able to check out your registry
by clicking Scan for Issues. Once you do, the progress bar will initialize. After it has found all of the issues, click Fix Selected Issues and a prompt will appear, asking you to back up your registry. I strongly suggest that you select Yes on this one. I've never had a problem with CCleaner, but it's still a good idea to do it. I usually save it to the My Documents folder. To fix all the issues, select Fix All Selected Issues and
then click Close. Finally, if you click Tools, you can also uninstall
programs from CCleaner. It's so much easier than using Windows' Add/Remove programs. Now, go on and clean up your computer.

The preparation that occurs behind the scenes is similar to what would take place for a radio show. Podcast Pre Show Preparation Tips
Preshow development, while monotonous and time consuming,
will determine the quality of the finished production. Prepare for your podcast by following these simple steps: Interviews Prepare interview questions in advance of the
show. In addition, develop possible follow-up questions and responses. Segments Anticipate how much time each segment should last.
Make a schedule, and keep in mind that you can edit audio segments down if necessary. Prepare Guests Inform your guests about what they can
expect. Familiarize them with the show's format and give them an idea of the anticipated length of the segment and the general theme of your questions. Podcast Post Show Production Tips
Transcripts Do not underestimate the importance of a
transcript when it comes to a podcasting. Transcripts boost search ranking and allow you to re-purpose your show's contents. Edit Just as in the movies, your podcast should be melded
together with smooth transitions between thoughtfully edited segments. The editing matters! Use software to polish your production. If a show is recorded in one large segment, it should be

A lot of both large and small businesses do not understand
the importance of providing good content on their website. Too often the look of the website, and the "sales pitch", get more attention. But in order to attract visitors it is far more important to provide interesting, relevant content. Lack of good content could easily contribute to the downfall of your business. Search engines look for and rank websites with original content above duplicated sites. If the content of your site also appears on many other sites, you will automatically be penalised by the search engines. The only way search engines know what your site is about is through text, they do not see pictures or layouts. The job of a website is to attract visitors. To do that, the website has to please two visitors, the visiting search engines AND site visitors. The way to please both is to provide good, original, informative content, relevant to the subject of your website. This will get your site ranked well with the search engines, and appeal to your visitors. Answer your visitors questions, show that you care by providing a knowledgeable content-rich website. That way you become a source of knowledge for them, building credibility and trust. So what should you write about? The best subject to choose is one you know something about. If you can build a business/website around something you have an interest in/knowledge about, that would be ideal. You will write with knowledge and passion, which will be conveyed to your readers, building trust and creditably. Once visitors trust you they will bu*y your products/services, accept your recommendations, etc., and your business will grow. Creating your own original content is not difficult. By following simple guidelines, and practicing, it becomes even easier. * Gather information on your chosen topic * Do not cover too large a topic all at once * Consider what your customer needs to know * Develop an outline of your topic, then expand it. * Write the content in a simple, clear format * Write in your own style * Show your passion for the subject * Stick to the subject * Do not use long sentences, and use short paragraphs * Don't waffle. Keep your writing only as short/long as necessary * Review your content. Be objective. * Always spell check your work. * Keep practicing, and learning about your subject. * Add more content to your site on a regular basis. Your website is a shop window for your business. It should reflect your personality and personal style. Although you want a reasonable website, the content is far more important than a super-flashy look. Content will get your website ranked well with the search engines, which in turn will bring traffic. Providing good quality content will bring visitors to your website. Keep adding to the content, answering their questions, keeping them informed, and that will bring them back. That way they become customers, and your business grows. In turn, the search engines find the new extra content, and re-rank your site, encouraging more traffic, and a snowball effect takes over. Internet Tip Of The Week ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Computer Hijackers
Basically, a computer hijacker is any
type of software that messes with your Web browser. They begin by resetting the preferences you have chosen and they then point that information to other Web sites. For example, a hijacker may work to reroute the information you have set in place, along with any Web address requests you make. The hijacker will point that information to some sort of unseen site and with doing that, they are able to capture all of that material. If something like this happens, your Web browser may still work the same, but it will react much slower. There are a couple of other types of hijacks as well,
including search and homepage hijacks. A search hijacker will change all of the search settings you have chosen and a homepage hijacker will change your preferred homepage to a completely different site. I'm sure you've all had experience with a homepage hijack before, am I right? You know, you choose a site to be your homepage and then the next time you open your browser, it has changed. How frustrating! Hijacking has been known for awhile now, but it's still
pretty popular. It may not be as scary as a virus, but it still has its downfalls. If you ever get caught in a hijack, there are some pretty simple ways to fix them. See, what the hijackers are doing is messing with your registry keys. They go in and change certain settings so you're unable to do what you intended to on your computer. So, to fix the search hijack, open Internet Explorer and go
to Tools, Internet Options, Programs tab. You will see a listing of some of your Internet services. Look past those and in the bottom left hand corner, there is a button that says "Reset Web Settings." Click that and the registry keys will be renewed. Click OK when you're finished. To fix the homepage problem, you have to disable some
scripting within your browser. In Internet Explorer, go to Tools, Internet Options, Security tab. Make sure the Internet icon is highlighted and click on the Custom Level button. Scroll down to the Scripting area and choose the Disable option under both the "Active scripting" and "Scripting of Java applets" choices. Then click OK twice. Do you know what you want? Are you sure?
Mark Twain said it over a hundred years ago: "I can teach
anybody how to get what they want out of life. The problem is I can't find anybody who can tell me what they want." And it's as true today as it was in the 1800s.
Most of the people I talk with do NOT know. They might
think they know, but most don't. I've been doing an informal survey recently and less than
10% can tell me clearly what they want to achieve. Less than TEN PERCENT! And this is from asking some pretty knowledgeable and sophisticated people. I just put up a survey (bottom left of our home page) and
the question is, "What Do You Think You Need Most to Succeed?" I invite you to participate in this poll. Already, the top answer is "More Clarity on How to Achieve
What You Want". The what and the why are always more important than the
how. The how is the easy part. So here's what I see as some of the best ways to get clear on what you want. What's Important to You? It starts with knowing yourself
and knowing what's important to you. Do you know what your core values are? If you understand what matters most to you, you'll find all the choices you need to make are much easier. The clarity that comes from discovering your core values will position you to gain more fulfillment and experience less frustration. There's a very popular course on discovering and living

get clear--and stay clear--on what you want is a mastermind team. Being able to bounce things off from a trusted group makes a huge difference. If you don't have a Master Mind, resolve to form one now. If you already have one, put your best into it--and get all you can out of it. You can even join one that's just forming if you want to be part of my Diamond Club. Tolerations Getting clear on what you DON'T want is also a
good place to start. Sometimes it's the best way to figure out what you want. We recommend keeping a Tolerations List. This is where you
record the things in your life you are tolerating. Things that are broken, worn out, don't feel god or look good. Anything that makes you feel bad. The idea isn't to dwell on these things but to bring them
to light, so you can see what need eliminating. It's amazing how fast they get handled just by writing them down. The opposite of what you don't want can be candidates for
things you do want. Having an aging wardrobe can lead to the goal of buying a new one. A toleration of credit card debt can lead to the goal of paying all cards in full every month. Your Dream List I recommend keeping a list of everything
you've ever wanted. Write down anything that strikes your fancy. They won't all become goals, but many of them will. It's fun to tap into this well of ideas. Let yourself dream. Make Sure You Choose What YOU Want Clear out any
expectations that others have of you. Often we get confused because we think the things others want for us belong to us. They don't. A hint that you're getting close to your own wants is the
feeling that goes with it. Our own wants will have a lot of energy around them (excitement, thrill, enthusiasm, etc). If you feel low energy about something, it's probably not something you want or you associate it with too much work and effort to get it. Invest the Time Most of our lack of confusion comes from
not taking the time to think about what we really want. Block out some time to think, to make the lists and to talk
about it with someone you trust and respect--and who trusts and respects you. Liken this process to an archeological dig. It's a process of discovery. Rest assured the answers are there. You might have to dig for awhile, though. It may take a
number of sessions, but it will be time well invested, because you'll be working on things you TRULY want--things for which you have passion. You will know once you've hit on the right answers. It will feel GREAT. Clarity Does Lead to Power Once you are certain about what

Lots of people just look for the program or product that
pays the most commission. While we all want paid the largest fee possible for our work, there are other things which should to be considered. When choosing what to promote, consider whether you will feel comfortable promoting that particular product. You will work better, be more convincing etc., if you are comfortable with, believe in, and preferable are conversant with, the item you are trying to convince others that they need. An ideal area/subject to choose is one in which you already have an interest. Your knowledge will help you to choose relevant product/programs, and allow you to work and write with more conviction. If you already own the product or belong to the program so much the better. For example, it is much easier to sell a piece of software if you own and use it yourself. While a lot of people jump on the newest program or product to promote, these have no track record and can be risky ventures. Is the product a 5 minute wonder, which will be out of fashion next week? These can make money short term, more usually for people who already have a marketplace to which they promote. Look for items which fit your idea of what you want your business to be about. By that I mean decide on the niche you want your business to represent. Especially when starting out, do not jump about trying to promote vastly different items. It will be easier to sell a dog basket to someone who has just bought a collar and lead, than to try to sell them a crystal vase, for example. Another point to consider is the amount of work that will be required to promote the item/program. There has to be a relation between the amount of time/work involved and the payout per sale. A low priced item requires a large number of sales. Conversely, a very high priced item does not require many sales to achieve good profits, but will more than likely require to reach a much larger, and/or a more specific, market. Is it a single tier affiliate program, or can you recruit and be paid on other affiliates work? Is it a single or recurring sale? Answers to these questions reflect on the amount of commission you will ultimately receive. How and when will you be paid? Some programs pay you immediately, while others may pay you one or twice a month. Still others may not pay for up to two months - a sale made in May may not be paid until July. This allows time for any refunds to be made prior to you receiving payment. When, how and who pays for refunds? Some companies, like Clickbank, give an idea of the rate of refunds an item has attracted so far, which is also useful information when deciding whether the item is worth promoting. The best affiliate programs provide training and resources for affiliate members. They also provide an affiliate website, and possibly squeeze page(s) or lead page(s). While this is good practice, the most successful affiliates will build their own squeeze/lead page(s), at the very least, so that their advertising stands out from the crowd. The training and other resources provided by an affiliate program should be used for ideas for your own advertising etc. Adapt it and make it your own, and you too will stand out from the crowd. Take these points into consideration when looking for an affiliate program to promote. Article ~~~~~~~~ Internet Affiliate Programs - How to Pick the Right One
So you are on a quest to find an internet affiliate program. You like the fact that they handle all the orders, take care of the shipping, and collect payment from the customer. All you do is market your affiliate website and get a cherub from them every month. Nice and simple. The trouble is there is just so many to choose from and they all are boasting loudly. For the most part you have to get past all the advertising which borders on lying and get to the truth behind the company. The following is a list of things to check for so you can make a wise choice. #1 How many years has the company been in business. I wouldn't go near any company that hasn't been around for at least 10 years. Why? Because you may be signing up with a company deep in the red and about to go under. I am ashamed to say it but it has happened to me. All because I didn't check them out thoroughly. I don't understand all this hype about "pre-launch" and "get in now before we launch". To me that just means they are unproven and unstable. #2 Personally if you can't pick up the phone and talk directly to Julie or Sally who works in the front office I would run for the hills or visit on www.greatpromotionsite.com. Flashing scam bells and whistles should go off in your head if you get an answering machine all the time. Sadly this is all too true on the internet. There should also be a physical address where the main office is that you could drive to one Sunday if you felt like it. #3 Just how popular are their products that they market. Stay away from some new thing that the world just can't do without. Chances are the world will do without it and you will left holding the bag of purple widgets you thought everyone would buy. The more products they have the better. They should be selling things that sell well in the real world and are already well established out there. #4 Is the company a member of the Better Business Bureau. The better the reputation they have the better you should feel. I actually know of a program out there right now (which I won't say which one it is to protect the people involved) that people haven't checked out to well because one of the co-founders of the company actually has 42 Better Business Bureau complaints against him resulting from previous scams he had run or go www.money-secret-exposed.com. This should kill your enthusiasm and you should not be saying things like "maybe he has turned over a new leaf" or "I'll just pretend I didn't know that and carry on in this anyway". It amazes me how people can be duped like this when they ought to just cut their losses and start over. #5 How extensive is the back office training. Do you have a mentor who is willing to help you and is his success tied to yours. Fire off a few emails to your future mentor and see if he gives a rip or if he is just trying to sell you something and say goodbye. Personally I like this type of affiliate program because it makes everyone accountable. #6 Watch out for affiliate companies that only take one kind of payment. The more kinds of payment they accept the better. Why? Because if that payment processor should decide they don't like XYZ affiliate company (for whatever reason they may have invented) that whole affiliate company will go down with your investment. Personally I don't like companies that won't pay you by a cherub in the mail just because I have seen this very thing happen a few times. #7 Your future affiliate program should be a free affiliate program to join but if you do pay something you should also be able to get out after a reasonable amount of time with your money back. Another good thing to look for is a discussion forum where you can login and learn about questions or problems other affiliates are having with the program. This can be very intuitive and give you an inside view before you get too involved. So there you have a few ways to look for an internet affiliate program.
