With Pay Per Click (PPC) advertising you only pay when someone clicks on your ad. But it's all too easy to burn through your advertising budget really fast if you're not careful.
Before you embark on a PPC campaign you have to fully understand your target market and do very thorough keyword research. In-depth keyword research is vital to the success of your campaign.
Many popular keywords bring up countless pages in one search result. Generally though, searchers will not look through more than about half a dozen pages. This means your ad MUST be shown in the first half a dozen pages!
PPC is offered by almost every search engine. For small to medium sized businesses, only consider the 'big three' ie Google, MSN and Yahoo. These three provide about 90% of all searches done in the US on the Internet on a daily basis.
When you set up a PPC campaign:
The first thing to do is decide which keywords you are going to bid on.
Then you have to create an ad - look at other ads currently being displayed for some of your keywords. Offer a compelling reason for someone to click on your ad.
Lastly, you must decide on how much you can afford to bid.
The highest two to four bidders have their ads shown in the top positions in paid search results and they get the most traffic but not necessarily the most clickthroughs.
It is essential to clearly identify exactly what your PPC objectives are, eg:
Do you want to improve traffic to your website? Do you want to increase sales of a product? Do you want to generate more subscribers to your newsletter?
You must check your reports regularly and update and modify your campaign. Add more negative keywords and remove any redundant ones.
Here are some general guidelines for developing your PPC campaign:
- Build a comprehensive keyword list including plurals, synonyms etc.
- Avoid broad and advanced matching - you'll get fewer impressions but they'll be more relevant so you will achieve a higher click-through ratio.
- Build a wide-ranging negative keyword list.
- Monitor and analyze your search performance and log files.

When designing a website, it is important that webmasters ask some general questions before they begin the design process...
What Is The Purpose Of Your Website?
Many companies use websites to establish their brand. Others use websites as a communication tool. Some companies see websites as sales vehicles and "billboards". Still others use their website as an educational tool. And some may be any combination of the above. The website must have a purpose in order for it to be effective.
What Is It That You Are Trying To Accomplish With The Website?
A strong understanding of the website will allow a webmaster to emphasize the action they want the website visitor to take on the website. By defining and understanding the purpose of the website, webmasters and publishers can better structure the information on the website. Information can be provided with the appropriate emphasis and navigation. An ideal website will lead the web visitor to take the action the webmaster wants.
Who Is Your Audience?
You must identify and understand your target audience. Understanding your demographic will allow you to cater content specific to that group.
What Are The Objectives Of The Website?
You also need to determine what the objective of your website is. What are you attempting to accomplish? Are you trying to sell something? Are you looking for downloads, or is sales your real objective? Is your website trying to promote a specific product or service? Do you want your visitors to take a specific action? Is the intent to profit from ad space in general or to have website visitor's click on specific ads? Are you trying to build a brand? Do you want visitors to purchase a product, or provide an email address?
When attempting to solicit a specific action, there are some general guidelines that you should follow. Your website should be designed to solicit the action you desire, so the navigation should intuitively lead the visitor to take the desired action. If clicking a link is the goal, then that link should be clearly indicated and prominent on the page. This will not only help insure that the maximum number of visitors will be able to adequately view and navigate your content, but it will also help prompt those visitors to take the action you wish to have occur.
For example: Many software companies struggle with the action they wish to solicit from the website visitor. Software companies and eBook publishers are often guilty of pushing users to download, at the expense of the actual sale. Some companies prefer to have users download prior to making a purchase decision, while others lose impulse purchasers by only pushing the download rather than the sale.
In Order To Maximize The Websites Sales Purpose And Objectives, Follow These Simple Steps...
Address Compatibility Issues
If a website visitor is unable to view the website's content, they are obviously going to be unable to complete the desired action. The compatibility issues could be related to technology or usability. Avoid using technologies that require the website visitor to download a plug-in before they can view the website content. If providing content using flash is important to you, you should also provide a flash-free version as well. Also, do not alienate website visitors who might have a disability -- use proper web construct, provide alt tags for images, and avoid using a color scheme that will cause confusion.
Define A Clear Navigation Path
A website's navigation should provide the visitor with a clear path. Information architecture is the organization and categorization of online content -- the process of creating clarity and organizing online information in a purposeful, and logical way. Prioritize and emphasize the most important items on the website. Give visitors a clear path to what they are seeking. Each and every page should intuitively provide them links to additional information and purchase options.
Minimize Distractions
Minimize choices and other website distractions. Website visitors should be provided a clear path of action. Do not provide the website visitor an abundance of choices -- studies show that a large number of choices often puts the consumer off. It is generally recommended that you provide no more than 3 choices. Keep your message concise and on-topic. Website visitors will often just scan a webpage rather than reading it, so bulleted lists and headlines might be used to emphasize your message.
It may sound like a cliche, but it's the little things that can make the biggest difference. Pay attention to all aspects of your website. Defining the specific website objectives and purpose will help to encourage the desired action or behavior from your website visitors.

Remove It Safely
If you haven't noticed yet, USB devices are flooding the market. Digital cameras, media players, external drives and many more. All of them require a USB port to function. Most newer computers have a port or two right up front for removable devices as well.
Even though USB devices are the plug and play type (that is, they're ready to go upon being plugged in), you shouldn't just unplug them, when finished with it for the day.. A USB port has current running through it, so the power jolt caused by unplugging a "hot" connection can corrupt data on a storage device, a camera or an MP3 player.
You can prevent such problems by clicking the Safely Remove Hardware icon down in the system tray (by the clock). It looks like a rectangle with a green arrow pointing down.
You'll be given a list of USB devices that are active. Highlight the one you want to remove and click Stop. When the power shuts off Windows will tell you that it is safe to remove the device. Click Close and then remove it from your USB port. It's the best way to keep your "toys" safe!

3 Smoking Tips for Article Marketing Success
Everyone wants more website traffic and yet nobody wants to work for it, instead clinging to the belief there is some sort of whiz-bang magic button that is going to bring in traffic with a single push. There is however one simple, easy method that consistently works to drive laser targeted traffic in droves; writing and submitting articles.
Here are the three golden rules that will ensure your article marketing campaign is firing on all cylinders and effectively working to bring in awesome results:
1. Ditch the Directories
If you are limiting your article submissions to the large article directories you are missing out on a huge market of potential readers that never come to or read anything on the article directories. There are literally thousands of ezines, newsletters and other websites covering a broad spectrum of markets and topics, each of which is read by real readers who have an interest in the topic. You want to get your articles distributed to these types of mediums instead of the monster directories.
Start tracking down publishers by using your favorite search engine or browsing through the ezine directories. Then put together a list of email addresses of real publishers and every time you write an article email each one a copy.
2. Fire the Ghostwriter
If you pickup and read magazines or books you will notice that they generally are not filled with mindless drivel that sounds like a high school essay. And neither should your articles... when first starting out you should write every article yourself, let your passion and firsthand knowledge of the topic shine through to the reader. The problem with using a ghostwriter who doesn't know the topic is that they can't convey the information with passion like someone who does resulting in a very dry essay like article.
3. Ditch Duplicate Content
The rumors of the duplicate content penalty are very real. If you aren't taking the time to create and submit unique articles to each of your publishers you are getting hit by it and eventually over time the effectiveness of your article campaign is going to have diminishing results. I do not encourage the use of article spinners, private label rights or translating articles into strange languages to avoid the duplicate content filter... This type of garbage is polluting the 'net with worthless junk content and gibberish nobody wants to read.
A successful article marketing campaign really is that simple! If you closely follow these three golden rules for crafting and distributing your articles to real publishers you will reap rewards for a very long time.

Using pictures on your website makes it visually appealing and it's also a great way to pass on information quickly to your visitors.
Bear in mind that you must keep the file size of your pictures small so your web pages will load quickly. Use photo editing software to resize your images so you don't lose the quality. If you don't have a professional program such as Adobe Photoshop, there are several free programs eg Google's Picasa http://picasa.google.com/ available.
The photo sharing site Flickr.com automatically offers optional image sizes so you could upload your photos to Flickr and choose the size you want.
It's a good idea to rename your image file using relevant keywords for search engine optimization and add an ALT (Alternate Text) Attribute - which is a text description of the image - in case the image fails to load. This way your visitors can get an idea of what the image is.
You can find suitable photos online in stock libraries. You will have to buy a license - always read the fine print to check how you can legally use the photos. Usually you are not allowed to use stock photos to create website templates or graphics for reselling to others.
You might also consider buying a digital camera and taking photos yourself, especially if you are selling your own products.

Did you know that one in ten Internet users in the US are Hispanic?
Hispanic Americans are the largest ethnic group in the US and they are also the fastest growing minority. Furthermore, Hispanic purchasing power has already hit $928 billion and is estimated to reach $1.2 trillion by 2010.
But... there are challenges to be faced when targeting this particular online market. You need to take into account that your audience comes from different countries and have adopted the U.S. culture to varying degrees.
You must get to know the Hispanic consumers in YOUR target market. Which language do they prefer to speak at home? In which language would they prefer to receive consumer or advertising information?
eMarketer ( http://www.emarketer.com/ ) estimates that there were 18.8 million Hispanic American Internet users in 2007, and that number will grow to nearly 25 million in 2011.
The latest research from Mintel Comperemedia ( http://www.comperemedia.com ) suggests that Hispanics are more open to email marketing than other consumers. Surveying adults about their attitudes towards email, Mintel Comperemedia found that Hispanics welcome email communication from companies they know up to 11 times a month. Non-Hispanic consumers only tolerate such emails up to 7.4 times a month.
This large and rapidly growing group is spending more and more time online... and is more receptive to email! This market could be a HUGE opportunity for YOU.

What Do You Really, Really Want?

Do you know what you want? Are you sure?
Mark Twain said it over a hundred years ago: "I can teach anybody how to get what they want out of life. The problem is I can't find anybody who can tell me what they want."
And it's as true today as it was in the 1800s.
Most of the people I talk with do NOT know. They might think they know, but most don't.
I've been doing an informal survey recently and less than 10% can tell me clearly what they want to achieve. Less than TEN PERCENT! And this is from asking some pretty knowledgeable and sophisticated people.
We recently conducted a survey on the front page of our website and the question was, "What Do You Think You Need Most to Succeed?" The top answer was "More Clarity on How to Achieve What I Want".
The what and the why are always more important than the how. The how is the easy part.
So here's what I see as some of the best ways to get clear on what you want.
What's Important to You? It starts with knowing yourself and knowing what's important to you. Do you know what your core values are? If you understand what matters most to you, you'll find all the choices you need to make are much easier. The clarity that comes from discovering your core values will position you to gain more fulfillment and experience less frustration.

A Mastermind Team One valuable source of support for you to get clear--and stay clear--on what you want is a mastermind team. Being able to bounce things off from a trusted group makes a huge difference. If you don't have a Master Mind, resolve to form one now. Tolerations Getting clear on what you DON'T want is also a good place to start. Sometimes it's the best way to figure out what you want.
We recommend keeping a Tolerations List. This is where you record the things in your life you are tolerating. Things that are broken, worn out, don't feel god or look good. Anything that makes you feel bad.
The idea isn't to dwell on these things but to bring them to light, so you can see what needs eliminating. It's amazing how fast they get handled just by writing them down.
The opposite of what you don't want can be candidates for things you do want. Having an aging wardrobe can lead to the goal of buying a new one. A toleration of credit card debt can lead to the goal of paying all cards in full every month.
Your Dream List I recommend keeping a list of everything you've ever wanted. Write down anything that strikes your fancy. They won't all become goals, but many of them will. It's fun to tap into this well of ideas. Let yourself dream.
Make Sure You Choose What YOU Want Clear out any expectations that others have of you. Often we get confused because we think the things others want for us belong to us. They don't.
A hint that you're getting close to your own wants is the feeling that goes with it. Our own wants will have a lot of energy around them (excitement, thrill, enthusiasm). If you feel low energy about something, it's probably not something you want or you associate it with too much work and effort to get it.
Invest the Time Most of our lack of confusion comes from not taking the time to think about what we really want.
Block out some time to think, to make the lists and to talk about it with someone you trust and respect--and who trusts and respects you. Liken this process to an archeological dig. It's a process of discovery. Rest assured the answers are there.
You might have to dig for awhile, though. It may take a number of sessions, but it will be time well invested, because you'll be working on things you TRULY want--things for which you have passion. You will know once you've hit on the right answers. It will feel GREAT!
Clarity Does Lead to Power Once you are certain about what you want, you can be more conscious about your intent. And the more conscious you are regarding your intent, the more probable your extraordinary success.

Scratch on YOUR LCD
If you have an LCD screen for your computer monitor whether it be a laptop or a desktop monitor, they're nice to have, but, unfortunately they can easily be damaged if something happens to hit it just right. The most common thing with LCD screens is a scratch. So, how do you get rid of a scratch?
Now, there are varying views on how to fix a scratch on an LCD screen. This method seems to work for me about the best out of all the other suggestions, but it's possible it won't work for you.
First, clean off the surface of your screen with a soft piece of cloth. Next, the best thing to do (even if it does seem a little weird) is use some petroleum jelly (like Vaseline) to fill in the scratch. The Vaseline's density matches better to the LCD material than anything else, so it will fill in all of the gaps more efficiently. Just rub some on the scratch and then wipe off any excess. Don't press too hard when you're doing that though. You want to make sure some of the Vaseline stays there.
This method seems to work about the best out of all the other suggestions I've tried, but it's possible it won't work for you. Just be very careful and make sure you get enough of the jelly inside the scratch. If you do that, it should work like a charm and the scratch will be gone forever. If it doesn't seem to work for you, you can always use a cloth to clean the Vaseline off the screen. It's at least worth a try, don't you think?!

Simply put good quality articles can be the perfect promotion tool when placed in front of your target audience or market. This method has been time tested and proven to work for site owners, product publishers and affiliate marketers as well. What makes article marketing an awesome tool for building links and driving lots of traffic that converts into more sales?
First the Internet is built almost entirely on content and much of that content comes in the form of written text and articles. Blogs and other informational sites are perfect examples as they are generally almost entirely composed of articles aimed at specific markets. People are constantly using search engines or other sites to look for good quality content on topics they want to read about and articles fill this need perfectly.
When writing and submitting articles its important to include a very compelling yet brief about the author box that intrigues the reader enticing them to click on a link in the bio box back to your site. Having read through the entire article and clicked on a link these visitors have pre-qualified themselves as a buyer and are incredibly warmed up to your offer and ready to make the sale. Next to pay per click advertising, article marketing can provide some of the best free, yet great quality visitors.
Articles also have a positive residual effect over time as they tend to be archived on multiple sites where they will be indexed by search engines and picked up by and republished on even more sites again and again. Good insightful articles on any given topic can hang around for months and even years in cyberspace providing quality inbound links that boost search engine rankings all the while bringing in fresh new traffic to your sites that will have a very high conversion ratio.
So get out there, fire up your favorite word processor and start cranking out good quality articles on a topic you are passionate about or have firsthand knowledge in. You will be much better off writing articles yourself and avoid using a ghostwriter in the beginning. This method really works! I have been able to achieve excellent results and sales by only writing and submitting a handful of articles.

Search Engine ranking depends on numerous factors, and the unseen Meta Tags are almost as important to your web page as anything your visitors can see.
Meta Tags are inserted into the 'head' area of your web pages.
Before doing anything, you need to collect a list of quality keywords/phrases you want to target. Choose phrases that people actually search for.
The Title Tag is the single most important "on page" element on your web page. It's the name of your web page and it tells the search engines what your page is all about. Use your most important keywords/phrases here and try to keep to about 60 characters or less, in length.
The Description Tag is not used for page ranking purposes but it's used as a description of your web page in search results. Write about 1 - 3 sentences in plain English giving the main information about your page preferably in less than 200 characters.
The Keyword Tag should have your most important keywords at the beginning, separated by commas. Use about 3 - 5 keywords/phrases if possible. As with the Description Tag, use plain English. Most search engines don't take Keyword Tags into account but they do compare keywords with content, so make sure that your content includes your chosen keywords. There's not much point in putting keywords in your Meta Tags if you don't use them in your content!
