Creating Keyword Rich Backlinks
It is, as it always has been the holy grail on online
marketing: links! There are many different ways to get
links to your site: link exchanges, certain services, blog
commenting, articles and on and on. Fortunately, most
people skip over the easiest (and cheapest) way to generate
high quality backlinks to your site - tell your readers how
to link to you by creating a 'Link To Us' page
Why have a 'Link To Us' page? Most everyone knows how to
link to create links, right? And if they want to link,
they'll just do it? Well, maybe. Maybe not. The instruction
page is important because it allows you to suggest they
link to you and suggest the keywords they use in the link
they provide. Some people will use your suggestions and
some will not. The ones that do will aid your Search Engine
Optimization (SEO) efforts.
In addition, there are just a lot of people who are not
technically inclined. By giving them links they can copy
and paste, you are ensuring the links from their site will
be valid. It's a travesty for your business if people want
to link to you but they don't do it properly. Broken links
are the same as no links. In the end, if you only get a few
more quality links because of your page, it's well worth
the effort.
A 'Link To Us' page should include a variety of icons,
banners, thumbnail images and especially text links. Give
directions to the lowest common denominator, so don't be
afraid of saying "right-click to save images locally and
the upload to your web server". Put the text links in a
textarea input tag so the resulting page displays the HTML
you want them to copy and not the link. This also makes it
easy for people to copy and paste.
You then put a link to this page on a fairly prominent
place on your website, so everyone who visits will get the
suggestion to link to your site and that you make it easy
to do so. Both of these will make it much more likely you
will generate links with the keywords you want. It ends up
being a win-win for everyone.

Ever since we ran the "Fatfingeritis" article last week,
everyone has been asking me if there's an alarm option for
other keys on the keyboard. You know, certain keys that you
accidentally hit all the time, such as the Caps Lock key,
Num Lock and Scroll Lock keys. Well, it just so happens
there is!
First, go to Start, Control Panel and click on the
Accessibility Options link. Click Accessibility Options
once more and then choose the Keyboard tab. Under the
ToggleKeys section, checkmark the box that says "Use
ToggleKeys" and then click OK. That little check then
activates the beeping sound and you will hear that every
time you hit any of those keys. Once you hear that beep,
you'll know one of those keys was hit and you can then go
and undo it.
Now, you can have your screen flash at you when one of
those keys is hit as well. To do that, go back to the
Accessibility Options window, but choose the Sound tab this
time. Check the box next to "Use SoundSentry" and choose
which way you would like to be warned from the drop down
menu. I personally like the "Flash active window" option,
but choose one that will get your attention the best. Click
OK when you're done and you'll be all set. Never again will
you have to worry about not knowing when those keys are
accidentally turned on and that's a big time saver for
everyone!

Three Ways to Rocket Site Traffic
If you have started blogging it is quite easy to see
minimal traffic for the first few months while you build a
reputation for yourself. It is during this time that most
bloggers drop out of the game leaving a dead relic of a
blog hanging out on the web all by its lonesome. So how can
you spare yourself from seeing only trickle traffic to your
blog? The steps are easier than you think in fact we can
solve this in three steps.
The first technique and the most potent is simply to
produce fresh articles and blog content every day. Writing
articles will allow you to gain links and traffic from the
search engines and posting regularly can. The continual
flow of traffic will occur after you write many articles so
do not expect hundreds of visitors after one article it
just isn't that easy. Although this will take time have
faith that the more writing you do the easier it will
become. Once you submit you may be pleasantly surprised to
notice traffic spikes as ezine editors distribute the
articles to their lists.
The next step to boost traffic is to partake in blog
commenting on blogs of similar interest. Do not
underestimate the power of a comment as referrals flow in
and you continue to back link build you will understand
exactly why this is recommended. Be certain to write
compelling comments as it is this type that is likely to
cause readers to check out your blog. The blogosphere has
also seen a you comment I follow movement which means many
blogs will give you that back link without any additional
effort on your part. Refrain from spam and comment often to
reap the benefits from this traffic generation method.
The third procedure is to participate in blog carnivals. It
is very easy to take your blog posts and submit them to
blog carnivals regularly in just a few minutes a day. The
benefit here is two fold, you will build and increase your
links and you will pick up site visitors. If you have the
gumption to host a carnival you can use Google's
instacarnival tool to grab the html you need. Once you post
the carnival you can ping Google and grab a bunch of
visitors that are referred to you from Google.
Be certain to use these three methods over and over and
before long your traffic will be rolling in. The easiest
way to continue is to make this a part of your daily blog
routine. If you fall of track then just continue where you
left off. Expect to work in order to see results and you
will not be disappointed.

Have you ever wanted to highlight a complete document or
page all at once instead of dragging your mouse all the way
from the bottom to the top of the page just so you can copy
and paste it somewhere else? If it is two pages or more, it
can be difficult to use your mouse for all of the text.
Even then, sometimes your finger slips off the mouse and
you have to start all over again.
If you're tired of all that nonsense, you can select all of
the text on a page all at one time. All you have to do is
select it all!
There are two ways you can do this. One is going to the
Edit menu in whatever program you're working in (a Web
page, MS Word, etc) and choose Select All. That will
highlight the complete page of text, pictures, etc. Then
you can just copy and paste the material wherever you want
it. The job will be done much faster than using your mouse!
The other way to select it all is by using Ctrl + A. This
keyboard shortcut will do the exact same thing. Just click
once on the page you want to copy, press Ctrl and A at the
same time and poof, it's done!

There are few limitations to marketing options, and the
opportunities listed here are just a few that will
generally result in a decent ROI (Return On Investment) for
most small businesses. That said, do not be afraid to be
creative -- no one knows or understands a small business
like its owner, so think outside of the box and don't be
afraid to experiment.
Identity Continuity
Create continuity between an online website, logos,
letterheads, business cards, and packaging. Create an
identity that will make your business stand out from the
competition, and leave a good initial impression on
potential customers. A professional image associated with
your company or product will remind customers of their past
brand experiences, and will reinforce your product line.
Trade Publications
Niche publications are journals or magazines that focus on
a specific market. If your product or service is
appropriate for a specific market, then advertising in
their trade publications will allow you to immediately
drill down and target that very specific audience.
Promotional Items
Branded giveaways have long been used by marketers to
attract potential customers. Products that have a long

Carrying out a group of computer tasks at one time, instead
of throughout the day, is a definition of batch processing.
It's also a very effective and productive way to handle your
online work.
If you group similar or related activities together and you
do them at a scheduled time of the day or on a specified day
of the week, instead of when you remember or as soon as they
arrive, you can get more done in less time.
Make a list of all the online tasks you usually do and then
create daily and weekly routines for all of them, eg check
email only once or twice a day, create a week's worth of
blog posts on one day each week, do research for articles
you will write once a week, etc.
Jumping around from one task to another might make you busy
(and tired!) but you won't get much further down your to-do
list. When you focus on one task at a time you will work
more efficiently.

It seems wherever you look nowadays successful businesses
are using some form of testing to improve their business.
From brand name soft drink makers to political campaigns
the key to improving the profitability of any business is
to simply to try out new things and new ways of running the
business until you have a valid result then acting upon
those results as a way to guide future actions.
But where do you start testing? Well first and foremost you
should be constantly testing your sales and marketing
materials. If you have an online sales page or print
advertisements go and test different layouts, colors, fonts
and wording of the ad itself. Sales and marketing material
is the lifeblood of a business and the good news is that
even very small changes can have a big impact on conversion
or response rates which will directly puts more money in
your pocket... But if you're not testing you will be
missing out on these potential gains.
If sales and marketing are the direct customer facing side
of things then operations handles the fulfillment and
services that will influence a customer's satisfaction of
your business. This is also a critically important area of
any business to test and improve upon because it is
absolutely important to retain customer's long term.
So go out and test and track the results from your order to
delivery, support systems and product fulfillment
processes. You should especially test them even if they are
handled by third party companies to ensure they are running
in top shape and can make delivery on time.
Beyond sales and operations I highly recommend that you
implement testing and process improvement in every area of
your business. Establishing testing and continuous
improvement cycles throughout is a major accomplishment
that will ensure the long term viability and profitability
of your business.
