Internet Tip Of The Week ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ System Restore
Have you ever made a change to your computer
that messed everything up? You know, maybe you downloaded something you shouldn't have or you installed a new program that just doesn't agree with your computer. Either way, a great feature to use in those types of situations is the Windows XP System Restore. With the System Restore, you can go back to a previous time
on your computer, without losing any of your documents, pictures, e-mails or anything! The System Restore is able to keep track of any changes you may make to your system and it automatically creates what are called "restore points" for you. These points allow you to travel back to a time when your system was in a more stable condition. To bring up the System Restore feature, all you have to do
is go to Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools and then click System Restore. You must be logged in as the Administrator as well. Also, make sure you close down any other open programs and save all your files before you begin. When you're ready, select the button that says "Restore my computer to an earlier time." Then click Next. The days you see in bold type are days that have restore points. Select the day you want to go back to and click Next. Windows will then shut down and restart, with the settings from the date chosen. Even though the System Restore feature automatically
creates restore points, it is also a good idea to manually create some when you are making any major changes to your computer. To do this, select the button marked "Create a Restore Point" on the first screen and then click Next. Give the restore point a name and then click Create. The new point will be stamped with the current date and time. So, as you can see, if you ever run into any problems with

Do you know anyone that would like to work from the comfort
of their own home? Sounds great right? It is easier than you think if you are willing to put the effort in. A popular way of jumping you web presence off to a start is with blogging. You can set up a blog in a matter of a few minutes and once it is up and running you can start the process of monetizing it. There are a few things you can do to create multiple streams of revenue we will highlight five of them here. Tip Number 1 One of the easiest things you can do is offer
your expertise to your readers. Figure out what is it that you are good at than can be completed on the internet and write up your ad. Some of the more common offers will be things like ghost writing or article submitting. You are only limited by what your imagination can produce as far as this goes. You may be able to bring in enough revenue providing your services so that you can work from home fairly quickly. Tip Number 2 Create an affiliate marketer account with a
service like Commission Junction or Click Bank. Often times these providers will give you the code you will need to plug into your blog. When you are selecting your affiliate products or service keep your reader in mind. What type of blog do you write? Make sure the products you advertise fit in with the overall genre of your blog so that you build a cohesive site. Tip Number 3 Use the additional space you have on your
website to sell to advertisers. If you provide a general searc engine search you should be able to bring up quite a few providers that will be willing to pay you to allow them to place a banner or ad on your site. Again you will need to use some discretion when you are making your selection. What you are doing is creating multiple streams of revenue ofr yourself to ensure that you always have an income being generated from your site. Tip Number 4 Set up a small box asking for donations. I
know you do not want to feel like a pan handler however, it is a common practice to ask for a small tip. Magazines charge readers in order to gain access to the contents, if you write decent articles there is no harm in throwing the question out there. If this sounds absurd to you talk a walk down blogger lane I bet you will see things like if you like this post buy me a cup of coffee. Feel better? You can accomplish this task by placing a PayPal box on your site. It is that simple. Tip Number 5 Create an opt in list in order to market
later. The average consumer will need to see the same or similar advertisement several times before taking the leap and buying. Think about the last time you made an online purchase. Did you buy the item on first sight? What enticed you to make the purchase? If you set up an opt in service through a company like Aweber you will be able to capture potential buyers that are actually interested in what you have to say. One of the easiest ways to build this list will be to offer a freebie to your visitor to get them to sign up. Your freebie can be an e book or just a list of tips to help your reader. Once you have list built the Aweber service will be able to send out auto responder messages or messages enticing your reader to come back to your site. Registering a domain name is basically a very straight
forward process. However, there are certain things to be taken into consideration. Where to Register There are literally thousands of places on the internet
which can register a domain name for you. The best places to consider are registration and hosting specific portals. Check the information and facilities they provide. For example do they provide help with choosing/suggesting names? Do they provide parking facilities (in case you do not need the name straight away, they 'hold' it for you)? You will find that some sites offer a lot more amenities than others. Finding the Name A good registration site will provide you with information
on whether the name you want is available or already taken. If already taken, a good registration site will offer the facility to possibly register your interest in that name, should it become free at some future date. A fee will be charged for this service. They will also provide you with suggestions of somewhat similar and/or alternative names to the one you entered for you to consider, along with the choice of extensions available (.com, .net, etc.). Further excellent, very useful services provided by some registration sites, are auctions offering domain names for sale by present owners, and/or lists of expired domain names - those not renewed by previous owners. How Much Will it Cost? This can vary greatly, but in this instance cheap is not always the best. If the price is extremely low, do your research and make sure everything that should be included, is, including the fact that the domain does, in fact, belong to, and is in, your name and control. Some hosting companies offer free domain registration when signing up for a hosting package. Again ensure that the domain is actually transferred to yourself, and whether there are any restrictions, so that it can move with you should you wish to change hosting company at a later date. Domains can be registered for from one year upwards. Usually the longer term you register for, the cheaper the price. Most commonly the price for one year is approximately $8. Price also varies according to the top level domain (TLD) extension you choose, .com usually being the most expensive, with other extensions, i.e. .info, .net, etc., varying in price. Premium names, names which are considered the very best of names, can cost considerably more, even up to $,000's. Most registration companies also offer either automatic re-registration at the end of the first term paid for, or notify you that the registration period if about to expire. Privacy It is possible to make the information on who owns a
particular domain name private. This usually incurs an additional cost, but can be done if you do not wish your ownership known. This should be considered carefully, as not knowing/being able to contact, the owner of a website can put some people off doing business with that site. Completing the Purchase The actual process of purchasing is very easy and straight
forward. Once you have chosen the name, extension, etc., the site will lead you through all other choices that they offer, until you reach the checkout where you will pay for the items you have chosen. If you have purchased through your hosting company's site, your domain will be up and running in a matter of minutes. bookmarking websites. Whether listing movies, books, industry gurus, or tips for protecting your computer, top 10 lists always garner attention. How To's Detailed how to's and tutorials often gain
popularity on the internet; although rehashes of tired content go unnoticed. When writing a how to, pick a niche topic that has not previously been detailed and explain it well. Offbeat / Unusual Everyone loves a story about the unusual
or unique. Offbeat items attract attention and interest. Keep it real, though. Controversial For better or worse, controversy attracts
attention. Well-timed controversial subject matter often gains traction on social networks. Taking a stand on controversial subject also generates a lot of comments (although not always positive). Humor The video segments on JibJab never fail to cause a
stir. In fact, the most popular YouTube video clips are often mundane subjects portrayed in a ridiculous or silly way. That said, they are popular and have a high rating and large number of views. Outrageous It is smart to be bold. Outlandish stories that
make you shake your head often get high numbers of votes on social websites. Timely Items that are timely are critical. Old news is not
news, and will quickly be buried in favor items that are current. Satirical If you are able to pull off a satire that
contains fact and humor, it too could perform well on a social website. Keep in mind that social websites vary and appeal to
different audiences. Study the social website to determine the kinds of stories that attract the most attention and interest. If it were easy to predict what would be successful there would be a whole lot of rich people in the world. Determining what will or will not be successful in business is not an easy task, and the same is true for predicting what will be most effective when it comes to social bookmarking. They can track every move you make and could even have access to your credit card numbers, social security number and other valuable personal information that you may have stored on your computer. Well, in order to help protect you from identity theft and
snooping in general, I wanted to share this tip that I even use on my own computer all the time. Check it out! Note: This tip is for Windows XP users, however, it can probably be done with other operating systems as well. Step 1: Go to the Start menu.
Step 2: Click on the Control Panel.
Step 3: In the Control Panel menu, click Performance and
Maintenance. Step 4: Under the Performance and Maintenance menu, click
on System. Step 5: In the System menu, click on the Remote tab.
Step 6: Under the Remote tab, make sure no boxes are
checked for remote assistance or access. Once you've double checked them, click the OK button at the bottom of the box. That’s it. Now, you can be sure that no one is snooping in

modern neuroscience. You need to be careful about your thoughts, judgments, and

your worries, the stronger the neural network holding that worry will become. Emotion, whether positive or negative, is a neural supercharger. This includes stress, which is driven by emotion. You are getting the picture of the negative cycle that
worry creates. The more worries, the more stress. The more stress, the less creative and clear your mind becomes. And the less creative you become, the less likely you will EVER solve the problem you are worried about. Plus the longer (and more passionately) you worry about
something, the faster you are driven straight into the arms of what you are worried about. A Proven Solution There is one, and only one, solution to
this. You must step out of the stress/worry cycle, and direct your mental focus elsewhere. What you focus on grows. This is why it is so very
important NOT to focus on your problems. You instead want to focus on creating positive solutions that create something you DO want. Here is a proven-effective plan of action: Convert your
problems to goals, Create a detailed goal-plan, Break your goal-plan into the smallest possible daily steps, then Begin to take action, one step at a time. And in the meantime: 1. Refuse to worry. Remember, worry is
a very powerful form of negative goal setting. 2. Create a new mental image. Create and hold a mental
image of how life will be when you reach your goal. The more emotion you pack into that positive image, and the more often you put your mental focus on it, the stronger the neural networks holding that image will become. 3. Bust your stress. Unless you manage your stress, it will
continue to build negative neural networks. Do not kid yourself about stress. It is at the core of many serious life-threatening bodily conditions, and has a way of pretending not to be there. Brainwave training is the fastest answer to instant stress reduction. 4. Build your self-confidence. Take some steps to build
your self confidence. A huge medical study showed that low self confidence and negative thoughts cause your brain to physically shrink as much as 20%. Self confidence is not a lightweight issue, it places unrealistic limits on your entire life. 5. Take care of your physical self. It can be easy to just
take your mental and physical health for granted until something happens. Add a walk and 20-minute workout to your life, and you will start to produce more feel-good brain neuro-transmitters. 6. Grow your mind power. Your brain truly follows the same

What is a Domain name?
Seems a silly question at first glance, it's simply a name to call a website, isn't it? Or is it? If that were the case we could simply number them 1, 2, 3 etc., and be done, surely. Apart from the fact that by now the number would be unmanageable, we use names on domains for a variety of reasons, not only the obvious one we have for putting a name to everything. So, besides having something to call our website (or group of sites) we use the domain name to identify/personalise our space on the world wide web. It can be personalised in various ways, simply by using our own name, personalising it to ourselves. In the same way a company can use it's own name, thereby branding the site to themselves. But there are other ways to name a domain. The name can reflect what the site is about, rather than a persons, or company's name. For example a site which sells baby clothes could be called "babywear". Yet another way is to make up a non-meaning name, and use it to brand your site/business, as Ebay and Google did. Over time, however, as the number of domains has increased (according to Whois.net at the present moment there are 94,546,719 domains registered) not only has it become somewhat harder to find the first name one may think of, but the role of the domain name has changed somewhat too. Today the name plays a part in search engine optimisation, telling the search engines what your site is about. This allows your site to be found through keyword searches, thereby providing free traffic for your site/business. So, to stay with our simplistic example of the site selling baby clothes, someone searching on a search engine for baby clothes, and enter the word babywear, or baby, up would pop, among others, the site called "babywear". So, someone wishing to register a name for a new site today must consider not just what they want to call their domain, but also how the name will represent their domain. Using a person's name to brand a business site or sites is still popular, and fairly easy to remember/find. A company name can either be synonyms with a brand name associated with that company, or a made up name. An existing brand name will be easy to remember and find. If going for a made up name, try to choose something fairly short, and easy for people to remember/find. If it also reflects the subject matter of the site, so much the better. If you cannot find a short one-word name, consider adding in one or two keywords (these are words that your customers/ visitors to your site will enter into a search engine to find your site). A name can be between 2 and 67 characters in length, the key being that it should be easy to remember/find. As the number of domains registered has increased, the use of hyphens has become more common. There are arguments for and against, but they have seriously increased the amount of names available. As has the use of such things as '2' instead of 'to', '4' replacing 'for', etc. These however, can make finding the domain more difficult if the searcher does not know of, or remember, their use. You also have to choose a top level domain (TLD) which is the extension at the end your domain name. These include .com, .net, .org, .info, .biz, .ws, and country-specific ones such as .co.uk. Others are being added from time to time. By far the most common TLD for a commercial site is .com, although country-specific should not be overlooked, especially if your business is not particularly global. The process does not stop once you think you have found your name. When entering the name on a registration site, you very often find your first choice or choices are already taken. Most good registration sites will provide samples of somewhat similar names to the one entered, which can either be chosen, or at least used to stimulate ideas. Once you think you have found the ideal name, just prior to registering, I would suggest a spell check. Lots of domains have been registered only to find that in the joy of having found a good name, the spelling has been overlooked. If, however, a mistake is made, it is not generally known that most registration portals do allow up to 5 days during which time the transaction can be canceled. This can vary from site to site, so should be checked. One final tip, when searching for the ideal domain name. If you find it, register it as quickly as possible. The reason being if you hesitate for any length of time, it is possible for the one you found to appear as a sample similar name for someone else, and be snapped up. ===================================== Clue # 401 - At present...94,546,719 are registered ?

You've really been doing your SEO homework and your site
has been creeping up page by page. Finally your site is on the first page of Google for your keywords. But you're more than disappointed with the low amount of traffic from all your efforts.... Before we get into why, here are some terms you must know
dealing with search engine placement: SEO: Search Engine Optimization. This is the science and art of getting a web page to rank high for a particular Keyword. SERP: Search Engine Results Pages. These are the pages that a search engine returns as someone searches for something. Your goal is to get your web page to the top of the results, if not; no one will ever find you. Keyword: the words or phrase that you want your site to show up for when people search for something. For example, if you're selling brick covers, then your keyword phrase would be brick covers. You may have read the first paragraph above and said can
that happen? Everyone assumes that when you finally get a web page on that magical first page of results that you've hit the traffic jackpot. Not always. Below are three reasons you may not receive the traffic
flood you banked on: 1) Your web page title and/or description are not readable
and appealing to a real person. If you put some words together to rank well in the search engines, they may not read well to a human and therefore does not cause a person to click on the link to your site. Remember, a real person reading your web page is the end result you're aiming for. Make sure your web page titles and descriptions are engaging so that you will motivate people to click, click, and click. 2) Your site is listed at the bottom of the first page vs.
the top of the first page. I don't have any hard stats, but I think the first site on the first page receives an order of magnitude more clicks than the last result on the first page. In other words, the closer your page is to the top of the first page of results, the more traffic you'll get. 3) You picked the wrong keyword(s). You must research your
keywords before you start optimizing your pages and building your inbound links. It's too easy to think you know what people are searching for and jump into action editing your web pages and building links from other sites, when you might be wrong on what the best terms are for your site. It's easy to edit your web pages at anytime; but changing the inbound links to your web site can be hard to impossible. Why do you care about the inbound links to your web site? Search engines, put a very high value on the anchor text and/or title tags in the links to your site. What does this mean? You've spent months getting links to your site using the term "brick zippers" because when you searched for "brick zippers" on Google, it showed 644,000 results. Later, when you're not getting the results you expect, you finally go to WordTracker and check how many people actually search for "brick zippers" and you find that nothing shows up for that phrase. Solution: you need to find a better keyword phrase that people ARE searching on, and THEN you have to start building links to your site with your new keyword phrase. Here's an example. I helped a blog owner with SEO for one
of his sites. In this example, I'm leaving off the name of his blog and the keyword terms. For this example, I did the research using the free version of WordTracker. He is targeting 3 keyword phrases:
Keyword 1:
Wordtracker: 0 entries in its database, 0 predictions for 24 hours Google: 2,490,000 sites Site is on the 3rd page of results on Google (near the top of the 3rd page) Keyword 2: Wordtracker: 23 entries in its database, and 4 predictions for 24 hours Google: 77,100,000 sites Site is on the 3rd page of results on Google (near the top of the 3rd page) Keyword 3: Wordtracker: 21 entries in its database, and 3 predictions for 24 hours Google: 67,100,000 sites Site is on the 5th page of results on Google (near the bottom of the 5th page) Based on this data, I suggested to him that he had selected
the wrong keywords. I tried several different keywords with WordTracker and found a different mix of phrases that show more predicted searches. The Keywords I suggested for him to use have these numbers:
Keyword #1
Wordtracker has 590 entries in its database and 94 predictions for 24hours Google lists 397,000,000 sites Keyword #2 Wordtracker has 12 entries in its database and 3 predictions for 24hours Google lists 2,470,000 sites Keyword #3 Wordtracker has 0 entries in its database, 0 predictions for 24 hours Google lists 2,490,000 sites The first two phrases are new to him, he wasn't using them
before, and my suggested third phrase is actually his old number one phrase. Even though this last phrase shows 0 results I want to keep it in the mix because it's exactly what his site is about. The first two phrases will bring in lots of traffic. Remember that I did this research using the free version of
WordTracker which only gives data for MSN; the full version gives information and predictions for Google, Yahoo!, and MSN. The number of predicted searches will be higher on Google vs. MSN because more people use Google to search. The Accuracy of the keywords to the content of the web site
is very important. I would rather get a handful of very interested visitors to a site than a hundred visitors who arrived looking for something else. Uninterested visitors will not stick around, and they probably will not buy anything either. In addition to keyword changes I outlined above, I also
suggested changes to the HTML code for his web pages. It will take a week or two, sometimes three to see the changes in search engine rankings. Summary:
Always pick keywords that are really being used. Your page needs to rank near the top of the first page of results to get massive traffic. Your web page topic must to be related to the keywords(s) being used. Suggestions:
A quality keyword research tool such as WordTracker is a must have. Using a service such as 3WayLinks.Net can really work. (That's how he was ranking on the 3rd and 5th page of results without any optimization to his web pages.) Written by Fred Black.
