Welcome to all of our new subscribers!:)

I promised an update on dad on Sunday but we didn't get in
till late on Saturday and the last thing I wanted to do was
write publishers comments.

Dad had his surgery on Tuesday the 27th of November and
they removed a large golf ball size tumor that the cancer
was only on the inside of the tumor.

After several test from pathology they decided that the
cancer hadn't spread anywhere else in dads body. That was
totally good news.

The day after surgery dad done pretty well and then late on
Thursday afternoon the fluid started collecting around the
lungs and his heart and he suffered from pulmonary arrest
and congestive heart failure.

After the docs worked along time they managed to save him
and then he spent the night in intensive care. Well Friday
they moved him back on the floor he was on and today he is
in good shape and it looks like he will probably come home
on Monday or Tuesday.

Prayers help and for all of those who had dad in there
prayers I thank you. As I have said my dad is my hero and
he will live for a little while longer. I wasn't ready to
give him up but I don't guess we ever are.

If you are, it may be costing you more than you know.

For many entrepreneurs, the temptation to always be
innovating, creating and launching new things can be very
addictive.

It's great to be constantly improving, but it's also real
easy to let go of the routine fundamentals that have built
and support our business.

New things are more interesting. They capture our attention
and engage our entrepreneurial spirits. It's exciting to be
working on something new.

We like to talk about how passionate we feel about our
business. And a new project, venture or undertaking can
fuel that desire.

But the truth is, what is good business, what pays the
bills and creates profits, is oftentimes not all that
exciting. A good deal of business is routine. And some of
it is downright boring--at least for entrepreneurs.

We've been working for many months on the launch of
SuccessNet 2.0. It's been both fun and exciting. It has
also taken time and energy needed for some of the essential
work that must be done to maintain what we have.

The good news is we've done OK in maintaining a good
balance.

But "OK" isn't really enough when your business is about
creating excellence.

So as we get ready to launch this new generation of
personal and professional development, I also had to take a
hard look at what I might have let slip.

And we all have to this from time to time.

We don't have bosses. And most entrepreneurs don't have a
coach.

And that's all the more reason to get honest with yourself
and take a serious look at what you're doing--and NOT doing.

What did you do to get where you are that you are no longer
doing?

What are you not doing as well as you used to do?

What are you not doing as often as you did before?

Go back a year, two years--maybe three years--and think
about the activities, the processes and the systems you
employed that have slid into extinction. If they NEEDED to
be retired, OK. But if you've simply FORGOTTEN to do them,
it may be time to go back to what worked.

For me, I realized that what had slipped was my writing.

I've been busy not only with the upcoming launch, but also
with my Diamond Club and my EMC Team (Executive Mentoring
Council) .

And all of these things are important.

But as I look back over the last year, I have to admit that
the number of articles I've written for my subscribers and
other publications has declined.

And that is largely what people have signed up for.

New tools are great. Enhanced services certainly add value.
But the core of our business is knowledge. My job is to
remind you--and myself--about what's important and what
matters.

Mostly that's about getting clear, staying focused and
consistently moving in the right direction.

What about you? What are the essentials of YOUR business?

What have you let slide?

What have you slacked of from?

Where have you lost your edge?

And how do you get it back?

For most of us, it's getting back to basics. It's letting
go of our need for something new and different and
concentrating on what already works.

You see, your new great idea, your next cool project, may
actually be poison to your current business.

We can still start new projects and create new things, but
we can't forget about or neglect the core of our business.

If you need to constantly be working on the new and
different, you'd better have people on your team who will
continue to do the routine stuff. Otherwise, you'll likely
find yourself without the resources to fund your new
ventures.

I invite you to invest some time thinking and journaling
about what you may have lost sight of--where you might have
slacked off. If you have, don't beat yourself up, just
acknowledge it, make some new decisions and take action.

After all of the ins and outs with dad over the last couple
of weeks we have had him here at home with us sense Tuesday
afternoon. He is very weak but I can tell a difference in
him sense Tuesday. He is getting a little stronger every
day but that is the fighter in him. So it is looking like I

Try to solicit reviews from your customers if they are not

to their sites in hopes of generating new sales and
subscribers.

How To Keep The Information On Your Site Safe

The privacy of information on your site is particularly
necessary, particularly if you are in a retail operation.
Your files may not seem as serious as spy documents, but
they still need to be given equal care.

A typical setup is that you have one or more sales pages
for your product and when a prospect clicks on an order
link they are redirected to PayPal, 2CheckOut or some other
payment processing service. This setup is good for several
reasons, the most important being the fact that you avoid
having to deal with credit card numbers and other sensitive
customer information. So far in 2007 there have been
published reports of more than 89 million identity records
exposed from data breaches. See the Identity Theft Resource
Center for some really scary reading. Leaving data theft
worries to companies who specialize in handling financial
information is a great strategy for most small businesses.

But you still remain at risk after this, and if you are
selling a product that can be downloaded you must be
prepared with proper protections for your product. Many web
site owners unknowingly end up leaving their products
improperly protected, allowing anyone who is looking in the
right place to get them for free.

Here are the 3 most common errors:

1. Easy to guess filenames.

If 'AdWords Secrets' is the title of your book, don't
create a file name called AdWordsSecrets.pdf. It would be
too easy for people to guess the URL to download your book
that way if the URL is www.example.com/AdWordsSecrets.pdf,
or something similar.

At least add a version number or a date into the filename,
e.g. AdWordsSecrets_v42.pdf or AdWordsSecrets_20070707.pdf.
This will make it much more difficult to guess the filename
and the URL.

2. Indexing the product itself or the download page is the
function of search engines.

With an increase in efficiency of today's search engines it
has become quite difficult to keep any website a secret
from search engines. Even without public links accessing
your product download page there are other ways for a
search engine to discover it and index it. After it has
been indexed anyone using that search engine will find your
product download page information in their search results,
making them able to download your product without charge.

Look up your site frequently to see what search engines are
picking up about the site. With the larger search engines
sites, you can look up by typing "operator

3. An inadequately constructed Robots.txt

If you place the text file robots.txt on your web server it
will guide search engines to the contents they should be
indexing and let search engines know what content should
not be indexed. This prevents search engines from indexing
the web pages you want to keep hidden, but since any
curious web surfer can see the robots.txt file, they may be
able to more easily identify your products. If a web surfer
notices that you are not allowing search engines to look in
the /downloads or /report directories, they'll know that
these directories may contain the items they want.

You need to strike the right balance between protecting
certain files and directories in robots.txt while not
revealing too much about the structure of your web site.

Using the internet to transact commerce with items of a
digital nature is a marvelous opportunity. To ensure that

The Pay Per Click Marketing Game

As an advetiser on the Internet it can become tiresome
rather quickly by having to play the bidding wars by being
forced to pay a premium for quality keywords in the major
markets. To make matters even worse throw in problems like
click fraud and low quality traffic and it can quickly eat
away any profit being made.

Fortunately for both small and large advertisers on the
'net today there are many other players in the pay per
click traffic business that can deliver a constant stream
of inexpensive traffic to your sites. Let's look at three
options currently available.

The richest man in the world, Bill Gates has entered head
first into the traffic business with the launch of the
Microsoft adCenter. Although adCenter is quickly becoming
popular among former AdWords and Yahoo users and driving up
prices, you may still be able to place ads in some markets
with good results.

One of the lesser known pay per click networks is a company
called GoClick. GoClick is cheap, incredibly cheap for most
keywords. However this is offset by the fact that the
quality of the traffic from GoClick isn't the greatest
since they place ads on game or other sites that may not be
relevant to your ads. However if promoting products with
mass appeals like health and wellness GoClick can certainly
provide good results.

StumbleUpon is proving to be a good source of cheap yet
somewhat targeted traffic. The secrete to StumbleUpon is a
toolbar that users install that keeps tracks of the types
of sites they visit, then when an advertisers site is
displayed it is targeted to the users preference of site.
With keywords starting at five cents per click and the
ability to deliver thousands of visitors every day
StumbleUpon is quickly proving to be a leading source of
inexpensive and profitable traffic.

So that covers the three viable alternatives. You should
always keep in mind that to never buy any kind of traffic
for a brand new sales page or an untested affiliate
promotion... You can end up blowing a lot of dough by doing
this if not careful or lack experience using PPC
advertising.

For brand new site promotional campaigns or affiliate links
you are much better off using the low cost or free methods
of traffic generation such as forums or article marketing
which can still have great results for the amount of effort
put in.
