Many Internet marketers realize that using testimonials on
their websites to try and increase their leads or sales can
be a very good tactic. But the type of testimonial you use
and its placement on a web page can directly affect its
performance.


We often see lists of very complimentary testimonials in a
sidebar, sometimes there's even a whole page of them, and
they might be attributed to John in NY or GH from Ohio...
but are these types of testimonials effective?


If YOU were a prospective customer, would these quotes
influence you positively? Would you feel that you could
trust the seller to deliver what's been promised or would
you be more inclined to believe that the testimonials have
been made up and so become doubtful and click the little x
in the top right-hand corner?

Think about it!


What would make a testimonial more believable? What could
add credibility and, ultimately, gain the trust of your
prospect?


For a start, the testimonials you use should have a full
name, company and photograph. This makes them more credible
than just a name and a city.


Gaining a prospects trust is a bit more complex.


If someone is interested in buying something from you, they
want to make sure they're making the right decision. So how
can you help to ease any doubts and/or fears they may have?


This is where your testimonials really have power. Placing
relevant testimonials near order forms or sign-up pages can
effectively increase your conversion rate.


Look at the testimonials you have. Do they mention ease of
use, value for money, reliability, customer service? Put
these under, or next to, sign-up buttons and calls to
action.


Another thing you can do to reassure your prospects is to
use recognized trust, security and guarantee icons next to
your sign-up buttons and calls to action.


Whatever the format of your testimonials, text... videos...
audios... make sure they are authentic and use real
photographs, not stock images.

One of the "secrets" in Internet Marketing is knowing that
you need to be patient enough to develop the kind of
business building savvy that people want. It takes time.

Many newcomers put more emphasis on the word Internet and
not enough on the word Marketing. The two are going hand in
hand and a proper Marketing plan is vital to achieve
success. If you do not have a comprehensive Marketing plan
with advertising budget, leads, promotions, customers care,
after sale service etc, the other word, Internet, is
meaningless.

Internet Marketing is not only about having a website, a

Many newcomers chose Internet Marketing to avoid the
interaction with other people. They falsely assume that

value. Are you valuable enough to be around? Do you have
the time and energy to support your downline, do3-way
calling, and answer questions for your downline partners
and their prospects? Are you prepared to spend hours in
front of your PC to improve your knowledge of Internet
Marketing?

If you don't, you will suffer the indignity of being a
netpreneur creampuff. The more you know, the more your
business will grow. Put another way, the more you LEARN,
the more you will EARN.

Its a simple formula - knowledge = success.

AND...massive action = massive results, MA=MR.

So if you're new to this business, UNDERSTAND that it takes
TIME to develop your skills as a netpreneur. Forget about
making big money in your first year with ANY company.

Entering Serial Numbers

If you have just purchased or downloaded some sort of
software program that requires a serial number, this tip is
just for you.

When you get to the point where you have to enter the
serial number in for the program, make sure you're using
the number keys that are located above the letter keys.

Don't use the number keypad off to the right of your
keyboard, because they are sometimes interpreted as
different characters and it will not be accepted, although
it may look right to you. To prevent going through problems
more than once, just use the top number keys, so it will
work right the first time!

A Handy Tip for Entrepreneurial Insomnia

I hope you are passionate about what you do. If you aren't
it's time to rethink what you're doing! But sometimes, we
as entrepreneurs get so excited about the possibilities
that exist all around us that it's hard to fall asleep.
Sound familiar?

Sometimes I'll actually BE in bed, tossing and turning, and
finally just give up, turn on the light, and get back on
the 'Net. Seems logical right? Well this type of behavior
can be detrimental to both your mental and physical health.

Plus, I'm naturally a night owl, so my brain functions best
once the sun goes down. The bottom line is, the sun is
often rising when I finally get tired enough to get some
sleep.

But the body always pays a price in the morning. When you
wake up in the morning, many times you feel like you've
been hit with a truck. Many times a nap and excessive
amounts of coffee are necessary to feel somewhat normal.
It's a vicious cycle.

I talked to one of my friends about this, a wealthy
entrepreneur who has more energy than almost anyone I know.
And he told me something very interesting to try.

He told me whenever he gets the uncontrollable
entrepreneurial fever, and he knows he needs a good night's
sleep (which is every night) he simply places a notebook
and a pen next to his bed. Then he tries to go to sleep.

As all of those thoughts and ideas rush through his head,
he simply turns over, turns on the light, and writes them
down. That's it. So why is this helpful?

My friend, who has studied this matter closely, points to 2
reasons why this exercise helps to put your mind (and body)
at rest. First, as a busy business person, bedtime is
probably the first time (since getting OUT of bed in the
morning) that you've had any peace and quiet the whole day!

That is, you aren't on the phone, you aren't writing copy,
and you aren't tweaking your website(s). So your
subconscious mind takes this time to relax... and push a
torrent of ideas into your head. And then you get excited
and can't sleep.

Second, these ideas are incomplete thoughts, known as "open
loops" in Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP). Since the
ideas are not able to be acted upon immediately, you are
stuck laying in bed just THINKING about all the great ideas
you COULD be acting on. No wonder it's so hard to sleep!

By writing these ideas down on your notebook, you are
effectively closing that loop, allowing your mind to say,
"okay, jotted it down, and we'll take care of that in the
morning... you can sleep now, dude"

Practice this until your mind comes to peace, knowing that
all those great ideas won't be forgotten sometime in the
night. Plus, when you can get a good night's rest, you will
be able to IMPLEMENT all those ideas from your notebook
with the passion and energy they deserve!

There will be times when you have to take your laptop with
you and work and work away from home. With a little
preparation and foresight, this shouldn't mean any major
interruptions to your business... there are plenty of public
hot spots around so you can still access the Internet
wherever you are.


There are often hotspots in airports, coffee shops, hotels
and other places where business people gather. You won't be
able to get technical support from the staff at these places
so make sure you are equipped with the necessary software
and instructions before you leave home.


Also, as a precaution, make a backup copy of your system
onto a CD and take it with you. Then if anything goes wrong
you can at least put your computer back to how it was.


Public hot spots don't usually have any security in place so
make sure you have both incoming and outgoing firewalls
installed on your laptop and/or use a Virtual Private
Network (VPN) service which provides secure communications
to all remote locations.


Make sure you disable file sharing before connecting to a
Wi-Fi network - you don't want anyone else on the network to
have access to your files!


Your computer will automatically scan for hotspots within
range of its wireless signal. Do not under any circumstances
connect to an ad-hoc (computer-to-computer) network. Someone
close by could create an ad-hoc connection to YOUR laptop
without you even knowing about it.


NEVER use a public hotspot for online banking or any other
online transactions.

Tips For Staying Ahead of the Competition By Sharon Housley

Staying ahead of the competition can be an on-going
struggle. While it is not healthy for a company to focus
too much time and attention on the competition, it is
important to stay abreast of what your competition is
doing. When evaluating the competition, assess the industry
giants and companies closest to your space. But be sure
that you don't exclude the small companies in your
assessments. Sometimes a small competitor can have
innovative ideas or marketing concepts, but may lack the
capital to really benefit from the concept. This may
present you with an opportunity.

When evaluating the competition pay attention to the
following:

1. Pricing

Evaluate your competitor's pricing scheme and price
structure. What is the price point of your competitor's
products or services? Are your products better or inferior?
Do the product differences justify any cost difference?

2. Meta Tags / Search Engine Optimization

Evaluate your competitor's website. View the meta data of
competing websites. Look at their Alexa ranking, and review
who links to their website. Are there links you are missing
that might be beneficial to your website?

3. Search Rankings

Perform generic searches in the major search engines
(Google, Yahoo, MSN) for critical phrases. Determine how
the competition stacks up in the search listings. Do any of
your competitors "own" important rankings. Consider your
search engine strategy and how you can better compete in
the search engines.

4. Specials / Marketing Campaigns

Access your competitor's special offers and any marketing
campaigns. Determine how they are defining themselves.
Evaluate any niche marketing -- perhaps they have located
an untapped market that might be ripe for you as well.

5. Advertising

Where do your competitors spend their advertising dollars?
Watch for trends -- an increase in spending may mean that a
competitor has seen a significant return on investment, and
it may represent a channel that you should also consider
advertising in.

6. Evaluate Links

Determine who is linking to your competitor's websites. By
using the special Google search feature "links:
domainname.com" you can see the indexed web pages that link
to a specific domain. Are you missing any important link
opportunities?

7. Evaluate USP

Evaluate your competitors USP (Unique Selling
Propositions). This will give you an idea of how a company
sees themselves, and what they feel their strengths are.
How does their unique selling proposition differ from
yours. Are there areas within your company that need work
so you can compete more effectively?

8. Industry Authority Assessments

How do industry authorities view the competition? Are they
considered industry leaders, or is the space wide open with
an undefined leader? Understanding how you stack up
compared to your competitors will help you assess your
strengths weaknesses, and define your business.

Knowing your competition is an important aspect to your
business, but it should not be the sole factor that
dictates your decisions. Educate yourself about your
competitors so you can make informed decisions and compete
effectively.

Restore Defaults

Have you ever made some changes to a program you have on
your computer or maybe you did a overhaul of your whole
system. Well, what if you decide those changes you made
really aren't what you want and you want to put things back
the way they were before?

If you want to restore your computer back to the way it
used to be, look for a Restore Defaults button in the
program you are working with. It may also be under a
control panel in the program or in a settings screen. You
may have to look around for it, but there should be one in
every program you changed.

For example, Internet Explorer has one. If you mixed some
stuff up in IE, go to Tools, Internet Options and choose
the Advanced tab. At the bottom of that box is a Restore
Defaults button. Click on that and everything will be put
back to the way it was before you made any changes.

Top Five Blog Lies Brought to Light

Incorporating the use of Blogger, Type Pad or Wordpress can
pull in traffic all by itself. Ah if internet marketing
were so easy we could all quit our jobs tomorrow. An
internet marketer could decide to go with any type of site
on the internet and no magically traffic would appear
without work. It just does not work like that. It is
terrible to smack everyone back into reality but it is
better to know what lies on the road ahead. Locating
success will require marketing, creditability and link
building.

Informational products exist that will help your blog
rocket thousands into your PayPal account everyday. Keep
your wallet closed, there is no such thing. Many new
internet marketers get sucked into someone's sales pitch
that promises instant income. Building long term income
through blogging just like building traffic will take time
and patience. The best part about blogging is that you do
not have to spend any money on marketing if you can deal
with writing your own content.

The major search engines will give any blog site top rating
because blogs are so popular. Everyone loves blogs
including MSN, Yahoo, and Google yet they do not give an
automatic rank bonus. The only way to truly climb the ranks
in any of these search engines is to market like everyone
else. Write articles, use pay per click if you need to, and
get your link out there and keep your blog fresh. There are
very few if any ways to cheat out the search engine
algorithms do not waste your time.

Copying and pasting blog posts into article submission
sites can help build back links and gather traffic while
saving time. If you are not aware yet, just about ever
duplicate piece of writing you put out there will be
snatched up and deleted. Search engines look to provide
fresh content they do not want to bring up the same thing
in their results every time someone searches...the result
is deletion of any duplicate content it spiders. Write
fresh content and forget about submitting the same exact
article or buying software that does.

If you write on your blog regularly you will not need to
email market. It would be nice to save monthly fees by
skipping out on auto responder services but you will be
skipping out on long term profits The average consumer
needs to see an advertisement for a product or service at
least six to seven times before making the actual buying
decision. One of the best ways to ensure that your readers
see your products enough to buy is through list building.
Every marketer needs an opt in catcher in order to bring
their readers back with specials or new information. When
you are weaving and dodging scams and marketing predators
keep these five myths in mind in order to save money and
find success.
